Propyl acetate, also known as “n-propyl acetate” and “propyl acetate”, naturally occurs in strawberries, bananas, and tomatoes. The product that can be obtained by the esterification reaction of acetic acid and 1-propanol has the typical properties of an ester. It is a colorless and transparent liquid at room temperature, miscible with ethanol and ether, and has a special fruit fragrance.
